Copywriter for the outdoor world

I currently live in Upstate South Carolina. When I say “Upstate” I mean that I can almost walk to the North Carolina border. I live on gorgeous piece of property with Mountain View’s and wildlife all around. I don’t even have to leave my own property in order to shoot, hunt, cook on the campfire or play around with building shelters. I can go for a hike right from my own property and not even have to go anywhere.

I am also surrounded by endless possibilities for doing things outdoors, which is where I prefer to be. Within a few minutes drive, there are challenging day hike trails, multiple day backpacking trails, lakes, rivers and waterfalls to swim and fish in. I don’t just write about these things……I am fortune enough to be able to live an outdoor lifestyle every day.

I started writing professionally around 2011. Mostly magazine articles focus on teaching outdoor skills. I also wrote outdoor product reviews for multiple websites as well as all my own content for my own business. I made custom knives for many years, so I understand a lot of the business aspects besides just writing.

When those things came to an end, I just couldn’t stop writing. But, I didn’t have any clear goals, or reasons to. I knew I just loved it, and honestly did not know what I wanted to get from writing.

Falling into copywriting has been a complete dream come true. I am not the type of person that likes to be the center of attention. It is surprising that I even put pictures of myself on my website. I would prefer to listen, and learn and not be seen. Convincing people verbally is just not my thing. But boy….can I sit down and string some words together. I have always found that I could communicate an idea, or make a case something much more thoroughly and effectively by writing it down. Making copywriting as natural as breathing.

I write for this industry because it is my passion. It is the one thing that I could go on and on about, and never get tired of the topic. I think it is rare when something like love of writing and love of the outdoors comes together so perfectly.
